AISI 1045 steel plate is one kind of high carbon steel. 1045 is suitable for shafts studs, keys, available as rolled or normalised. Supplied as square bar, or round bar or flat. 1045 steel plate is excellent in weldability, machinability, and they can be subjected to various heat treatments. SAE 1045 Steel is one of the commonly used carbon steels with an average carbon content of 0.45%, medium tensile properties, good strength, toughness and wear resistance. It can be treated by annealing, flame treatment or induction hardening. C1045 is also known as 1045 cold rolled steel, and 1045 hot rolled steel is known as 1045 HR. It matches its long-term durability and basic flexibility.

American material grades like SAE, AISI and ASTM represent the three major American associations, namely the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). SAE 1045, AISI 1045, and ASTM 1045 are just different expressions, but they all represent the same grade SAE 1045 Equivalent Indian Standard.
AISI1045 is a medium carbon, medium tensile steel supplied as forged or normalized. This steel shows reasonable strength and toughness. C1045 will through harden to 2.5” with a tensile strength of 620–850 MPa. 1045 also known as EN8 steel. It belongs to Unalloyed medium carbon steel grade. Furthermore, 1045 is a good strength steel, have good tensile and easy to heat treatment. And it is widely used to make shafts, pins, studs, keys and bearings.
AISI 1045 steel plate is characterized by good weldability, good machinability, and high strength and impact properties in either the normalized or hot-rolled condition. 1045 is a medium tensile steel. A structural quality, medium-carbon steel plate produced to a chemical composition requirement. Applications include processing industries, gear production, and mining equipment. SAE 1045 Chemical Composition is 0.50 carbon and 0.90 manganese content.
AISI 1045 steel has a low through-hardening capability with only sections of around 60 mm in size being recommended as suitable for tempering and through-hardening. However, it can be efficiently flame or induction-hardened in the normalized or hot rolled condition to obtain surface hardness in the range based on factors such as section size, type of set up, quenching medium used etc. At Aesteiron Steels LLP, all our products are manufactured according to the international standards and are available for all industries.
