What are EN19 Round Bars and where they are used?

Round Bars are always supplied with the test certificates and can be supplied in bulk quantity as well as retail quantity as per customers’ requirements. EN19 round bars are supplied by us to various industries. EN19 Round Bar made of high carbon steel has 0.5 to 0.8% of manganese. Hence it is strong and hard to be useful in oil & gas, high-loading and other industries.

EN19 Steel — SAE-AISI 4140 is classified as low alloy steel. Medium carbon steels are high strength steels which include EN19 as an important member in low alloy category. These steels show positive response to all variety of heat treatments. 4140 is a 1% chromium — molybdenum medium hardenability general purpose high tensile steel — generally supplied hardened and tempered in the tensile range of 850–1000Mpa. EN19 is a high quality, high tensile alloy steel usually supplied readily machineable in ‘T’ condition, giving good ductility and shock resisting properties combined with resistance to wear.


Steel EN19 Rods are machineable because of their maximum carbon content of 0.45% and also hard because of the maximum manganese content of 0.8%. Machining Carbon Steel bars to fine dimensional tolerances is possible. Hence it is best for producing precision components for automotive and other industries. It is easy to weld the EN 19 rod using all conventional techniques. But if welded in the heat-treated condition, there may be changes in the mechanical properties. Hence, a few post-weld heat treatments are essential to keep mechanical properties like tensile strength intact.
